Bulls-v-Canada 5/22/10
The Southern Maine Raging Bulls defeated a very good Saint John Alpine Wanderers team 15-3 Saturday afternoon at Deering High School. The defense was led by Jeff Pammer who had 3 interceptions one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Bulls front 7 was very stingy against the run and punished the Canadian offense. Southern Maine has a relentless defensive line with BIG plays by DJ Grenier, Bill Segler, Tom Beavers, and Breon Shannon. The line backing core was in every gap as Ray Toye, Brandon Dorsett and Dylan Veilleux refused to give up and inch. The Bulls secondary had 5 total interceptions on the afternoon.
Offensively the Bulls showed sign of brilliance against a solid defense. Phil Warren was the difference with his pounding running attack and huge as huge holes were opened by the offensive line. Quarterback Steve Lorain was solid in the air and kept the attack balanced with over a hundred yards in the air including a touchdown despite many dropped passes. The offensive play of the day was a circus style catch on 3rd and long by C.J. “pickle juice” Conant.
Brian Jahna was the special team’s standout leading the way on several special teams tackles.
